Why Waxed Canvas Looks Different Waxed canvas often shows slight color and texture variations because of:
- Uneven Dye Absorption: Cotton fibers absorb dye differently in each batch.
- Wax Distribution: Wax settles unevenly, creating light and dark areas.
- Movement and Use: Folding and creasing shift the wax, forming marks (called craze lines) that add to the rugged look.
- Seasonal Changes: Temperature and humidity can affect how the fabric takes in dye and wax, causing subtle differences between batches made in different seasons.
