So without further ado, let's kick off the fun here. The holidays are so special with children around the house. Who doesn't get excited when hearing their laughter after seeing the christmas tree light up or helping create that special list just perfect to give to Santa. One of our favorite traditions is throwing a small holiday party with all of our play date friends.

The menu is always super simple - think PB&J sandwiches cut out into christmas shapes with cookie cutters and some red and green fruit salad with cut grapes and strawberries. Hot chocolate with LOTS of marshmallows is always a fun addition too.

Activities are crazy easy (considering our children are still toddlers).  One craft our kids all love are candy cane mice while reading Twas the Night Before Christmas.

Another fun activity is decorating gingerbread man cookies. I'm talking super simple here. Buy a pre-made kit, a few other candy bits and pieces and a few bottles of premixed icing. My biggest tip is to put the cookies in cake pans while decorating them. It's a great way to contain the mess!

Another tip is to put all the candy in little bowls so they can easily be sprinkled onto the cookies. And just remember the cookies do not need to look Pinterest worthy when you're done - just relax and have a great time!

The one area of the party that I don't shy away from is making a fun and festive dessert table. It doesn't have to be complicated to be amazing. My biggest tip is using wrapping paper to create a fun backdrop. The red and white paper was so festive and reminded me of falling snow.  It definitely set the inspiration for the rest of the table.

To complete the backdrop, I added a few letter balloons and some christmas trees from my christmas decorating stash. The kids loved the mini christmas trees that were just their size!

Easy store bought mini cupcakes popped into baking cups looked homemade in seconds.

Turning plain Rice Krispies treat into pops was so easy. With a little drizzle of red icing on the top and an added paper straw, the kids loved having their own dessert to hold. For the moms, I made white chocolate covered popcorn with candy cane shaped sprinkles for a festive and fun touch.

Don't be intimidated or think you don't have time to throw an event before Christmas. As long as you're having fun and surrounded by friends you're sure to have an unforgettable time. Just keep it easy - the kids won't remember that you didn't make everything from scratch. We promise!
